Ali Larijani, a senior Iranian security official, has warned that US military bases across the region would be targeted if Washington launches military action against Iran.

He also accused Israel of attempting to undermine ongoing nuclear negotiations, The Caspian Post reports, citing Iranian media.

Larijani, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC), made the remarks in an interview with Al Jazeera during a visit to Qatar on Wednesday.

“If the US attacks us, we will target its military bases in the region,” he said.

He noted that Qatar has been playing what he described as a constructive mediating role between Tehran and Washington in the nuclear talks.

“Negotiations have their own track and they can bear fruit if conducted with realism and mutual respect,” Larijani stated, emphasizing that Iran’s missile program is not open for discussion.

“No one gave us nuclear technology; we obtained it through our own internal efforts,” he added.

Commenting on the Israeli prime minister’s recent visit to Washington, Larijani said Israel is seeking to derail the negotiation process and is searching for pretexts to spark a conflict.

“There will be no negotiations on any issue other than the nuclear program. There is common ground with Washington on the fact that we do not possess nuclear weapons,” he said.

Larijani added that Tehran has not received a specific proposal from Washington and described the recent engagement in Oman as an exchange of messages rather than formal talks.

“Negotiations with Washington are ongoing, and countries in the region are trying to make these talks successful. Our stance toward them is positive,” he said.

He also noted that the United States has “moved toward a rational path” by entering negotiations.

At the same time, Larijani rejected the idea of a complete halt to uranium enrichment, saying Iran requires enrichment capabilities for energy generation and medical production.
