The head of Iran’s Anti-Narcotics Police Brigadier General Iraj Kakavand and his Pakistani counterpart Major general Abdul Moeed agreed to enhance intelligence cooperation to identify and suppress drug trafficking networks and strengthen border coordination.

The two sides discussed issues of mutual interest as well as commitment to strengthen cooperation to fight against narcotics, The Caspian Post reports, citing Iranian media.

Kakavand agreed to further improve information exchange to neutralize drug trafficking networks, take joint operational measures to combat cross-border drug trafficking, and overcome border challenges to prevent drug smuggling along the Pakistan-Iran border.

The Iranian delegation will also visit the Pakistani Ministry of Interior and Narcotics Control, Anti-Narcotics Force Academy, an addiction treatment and rehabilitation center in Karachi, and the Karachi Port Trust to learn about Pakistan’s professional training, drug prevention measures, and the rehabilitation of drug addicts.

Kakavand also appreciated the efforts made by the Anti-Narcotics Force Academy in controlling the challenge of narcotics.
