Iran is prepared for both diplomatic negotiations and a possible renewed military conflict with the US, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said.

“We are fully prepared for the start of a new round of aggression. We will withstand any aggression, even if it is a doomsday war. At the same time, we are ready for diplomatic negotiations. The choice is up to President Trump,” Araghchi said, according to Sputnik Armenia.

He added that Tehran remains open to a diplomatic settlement, but only if Washington accepts Iran’s seven-point proposal. The proposal includes conditions linked to ending hostilities and restoring navigation through the strategically important Strait of Hormuz.

Araghchi previously said Iran had sent the US, through intermediaries, a seven-day plan aimed at reopening the Strait of Hormuz. Iran has said the waterway could be reopened within seven days if its conditions are met.

US President Donald Trump has rejected the proposal, while Iran says it is still awaiting Washington’s formal response through mediators.

The Strait of Hormuz remains a major point of tension in the conflict, with shipping through the strategic waterway severely disrupted. Iran has linked the reopening of the strait to conditions including an end to military pressure, the lifting of the blockade and measures concerning Iranian oil exports and frozen assets.
