Iran has repatriated 14 of its citizens who were imprisoned in Kuwait to serve the remainder of their sentences in the country, a senior Foreign Ministry official announced.
Mojtaba Shasti Karimi said that the transfer was carried out through joint efforts by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Justice, with coordination from Iran’s embassy in Kuwait, The Caspian Post reports, citing Iranian media.
He said the move took place under a bilateral judicial cooperation agreement between the two countries.
Last year, Iran repatriated 36 nationals who had been serving sentences in Kuwait back to the country under the same framework.
