The Iranian news agency Isna reports that Iran is reviewing a U.S. proposal that has "partially reduced the differences" between the two sides.
"To further reduce the gaps, Washington must stop being tempted to go to war," Isna writes, The Caspian Post reports, citing Sweden Herald.
The news agency does not specify where the information comes from.
The statement comes in connection with Pakistan's army chief Asim Munir's visit to Tehran on Thursday. Pakistan is acting as a mediator in the war between the US and Iran.
Earlier on Thursday morning, Iran was reported to be reviewing the latest US proposal to end the war in the Middle East, a proposal that, according to the Wall Street Journal, has angered Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
