Iran has outlined a major precondition for any potential negotiations with the United States, linking diplomatic progress to regional security developments.
Iranian Parliament Deputy Speaker Ali Nikzad said that Tehran’s main demand is the “complete halt of attacks on Lebanon”, The Caspian Post reports via Iranian media.
He stressed that Iran’s position on talks is clear, adding that Tehran and Beirut act as a united front on regional issues.
Nikzad also commented on the strategic importance of the Strait of Hormuz, calling it a “red line” for Iran and emphasizing that control over the waterway is a sovereign right. He noted that Tehran seeks regional agreements to ensure security and stability in the area.
