An Iranian official has stated that the country’s armed forces are capable of destroying all US Navy vessels in the Persian Gulf that fall within range of its missiles, if necessary.

Mohsen Rezaei, a member of Iran’s Expediency Discernment Council, made the remarks in comments reported by an Iranian news agency, The Caspian Post reports, citing Iranian media.

He said that Iranian launch systems are currently “targeting ships” and warned that Tehran would respond decisively in the event of confrontation, adding that “no one can escape” Iranian firepower.

Rezaei also argued that extending a ceasefire would not serve Iran’s interests and said that pressure on the country should be increased.

At the same time, he noted that there remains an opportunity to pursue negotiations while maintaining a ceasefire, suggesting a dual-track approach that combines dialogue with continued deterrence.
