IRGC Naval Commander Killed in US-Israeli Strike, Iran Confirms

Iran confirmed on Monday that its Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy Commander Alireza Tangsiri was killed in a US-Israeli strike, according to an official statement reported by Fars news agency.

On Thursday, Israel’s defense minister said that Tangsiri had been killed in an airstrike along with all senior Navy command officials in the southern city of Bandar Abbas, according to local media, saying the Iranian commander was responsible for closing the strategic Strait of Hormuz, The Caspian Post reports, citing foreign media.

The same day, US Central Command (CENTCOM) on Thursday confirmed the death of Tangsiri.
