Mashhad Unrest Claims Life of IRGC General’s Son in Iran

During unrest in Mashhad, Iran, Farajollah Shooshtari, the son of the late IRGC Ground Forces deputy commander, Brigadier General Noor Ali Shooshtari, has been killed.

The deceased was a prominent cultural figure, The Caspian Post reports via Iranian media.

His father, Brig. Gen. Shooshtari, was killed in 2009 in a suicide bombing attack.

Moreover, in Mashhad, 15 buses were set on fire, each valued at around 18 billion rials (approximately $18,000).

The unrest also damaged 320 bus stops, 600 road signs and barriers, and included attacks on the metro system. Total estimated losses from the destruction are in the hundreds of billions of rials, highlighting the scale of the violence.
