Israeli and American intelligence agencies reportedly spent years monitoring Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei before a covert operation culminated in his assassination.

The agents from Mossad hacked into Tehran’s citywide surveillance camera network, gaining access to nearly all municipal cameras. The footage was transmitted to intelligence centers in Tel Aviv and southern Israel, allowing operatives to closely monitor Ali Khamenei, his bodyguards, and other senior Iranian officials, The Caspian Post reports via foreign media.

According to the report, the intelligence haul included detailed data on security personnel - their home addresses, work schedules, and protective assignments. One specific camera angle reportedly proved especially valuable, enabling agents to track where bodyguards parked their personal vehicles when arriving at the Supreme Leader’s residence on Pasteur Street in central Tehran.

The surveillance operation was described as part of a long-running intelligence campaign that ultimately led to Khamenei’s killing on February 28.

“We know Tehran as well as we know Jerusalem,” an Israeli intelligence source said.

The report further claims that the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) also had a well-placed informant providing critical intelligence. Combined with Israeli surveillance tools and advanced artificial intelligence algorithms analyzing vast data on Iran’s leadership and movements, the information enabled operatives to pinpoint Khamenei’s location at a meeting where he was later killed.

Once Israeli and US officials confirmed his whereabouts, they reportedly moved swiftly. Mossad agents had been preparing for months but acted immediately after verifying the ayatollah’s presence at the targeted site.
