Peru has announced a major diplomatic move, deciding to sever diplomatic relations with Iran amid growing tensions surrounding the situation in the Middle East.
Peru’s Foreign Ministry confirmed the decision, saying it was linked, among other factors, to the developments in the Middle East and Iran’s actions in the Strait of Hormuz, Gazeta.ru reports.
Despite the diplomatic rupture, the decision will not affect consular relations between Peru and Iran. This means consular services and related contacts between the two countries are expected to remain in place.
