The Russian state corporation Rosatom is preparing to evacuate the families of its personnel and part of the staff working on the construction of new units at the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant in Iran.
Alexey Likhachev, CEO of Rosatom, announced that the second phase of workforce optimization-which includes relocating families and some employees to Russia-will begin shortly, The Caspian Post reports via Russian media.
"We have completed preparations for the second stage of optimization, specifically the evacuation of families and part of the personnel to Russia. We will soon move them to a safe location," Likhachev said.
The Bushehr plant, located near the city of Bushehr, is the first nuclear facility of its kind in Iran and the Middle East. Construction began in 1975, but commercial operation only started in 2013, making it a critical and strategic energy site in the region.
