Almaty Marks Kazakhstan’s Independence with Floral Tribute

A solemn flower-laying ceremony has been held at Almaty’s Tauelsizdik (Independence) Monument to mark Kazakhstan’s Independence Day.

The event was attended by Almaty’s mayor Darkhan Satybaldy, members of the city administrations, representatives of the Public Council and Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan, participants of the December 1986 events, as well as members of ethnocultural associations and youth organizations, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

Participants observed a minute of silence in honor of the heroes who gave their lives for the country’s freedom and independence.

The ceremony concluded with the performance of Kazakhstan’s National Anthem, accompanied by the military brass band of the Almaty regional garrison.
