Astana Opera Dazzles Oman with Captivating Kazakh Ballet

The Royal Opera House Muscat has turned into a celebration of Kazakh artistry as Astana Opera performed Roland Petit’s famed ballet Coppélia.

The tour, organized at the invitation of the Omani side with support from Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Culture and Information, drew more than two thousand enthusiastic spectators, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

Principal dancers Bakhtiyar Adamzhan, Aigerim Beketayeva, Olzhas Tarlanov, and later Yerkin Rakhmatullayev, Rustem Seitbekov, and Shugyla Adepkhan captivated the audience, while Maestro Ruslan Baimurzin led the orchestra in creating a rich, seamless musical backdrop.

The performance brought to life the charming story of a small town, a mysterious inventor, and a lifelike doll that blurs the line between illusion and reality. Astana Opera’s dancers delivered Roland Petit’s signature choreography with elegance and precision, reflecting the choreographer’s unique theatrical universe and artistic legacy.

The Muscat tour concluded with prolonged applause, flowers, and shouts of “Bravo!” as Oman warmly celebrated the Kazakh ensemble, reaffirming Astana Opera’s place among the world’s leading cultural institutions.
