China’s Guangzhou TV Promotes Kazakhstan as Tourist Destination

China's Guangzhou Radio and Television is spotlighting Kazakhstan’s tourism and culture in a new travel documentary as part of its international program Make Friends in the Silk Road.

The project continues the success of Youth of Hong Kong in Border Cities, featuring young bloggers from Kazakhstan and China who explore the countries’ tourism potential, cultural heritage, traditions, and modern youth values through personal experience, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

Daniel Serzhanuly, Acting Chairman of Kazakh Tourism, highlighted that 2025 saw strengthened cooperation with Guangzhou, including business-to-business (B2B) meetings, familiarization tours for Chinese tourism representatives, and the launch of a direct Guangzhou-Almaty flight by Air Astana. He noted that Kazakhstan is seeing tangible results: over 876,000 Chinese visitors traveled to the country in the first 11 months of 2025, up from 655,000 last year.

Filming in Kazakhstan covers major destinations in Almaty and Astana. In Almaty, the crew explored the urban environment, local cuisine, and Shymbulak ski resort, while Astana’s modern architecture, infrastructure, and rapid development will be showcased.

The documentary will air on Guangzhou Television and international digital platforms of the GBA Lifestyle media group, promoting Kazakhstan as a top destination. Kazakhstan ranks among the top seven most popular destinations for Chinese tourists during the winter holiday season.
