Kazakhstan is making major strides in transport and logistics as part of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s vision to turn the country into a Eurasian transit hub.
Ruslan Zheldibay, Assistant to the President and Press Secretary, highlighted the country’s transport achievements in 2025, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.
Kazakhstan repaired and built 13,000 kilometers of roads, including 1,900 km of strategic new highways such as Center-West, Karaganda-Zhezkazgan, Aktobe-Ulgaysyn, and Atyrau-Dossor.
The aviation sector also saw significant expansion, with 35+ new air routes, including direct flights to Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Munich, and the entry of several new airlines. Construction of three new airports in Zaysan, Katon-Karagay, and Kenderli began, alongside restoration of Arkalyk Airport. Plans are also underway to launch Kazakhstan’s first national cargo airline to boost global transit potential.
Railways received major upgrades, including second tracks on Kyzylzhar-Moyynty, a bypass around Almaty, new lines Darbaza-Maktaaral and Bakhty-Ayagoz, and modernization of 124 railway stations nationwide.
These infrastructure projects align with Kazakhstan’s record-breaking economic performance: for the first time, GDP is projected to exceed $300 billion, with per capita GDP reaching $15,000.
