Kazakhstan’s national weather agency has issued a nationwide alert as a cyclone sweeps across the country, triggering a mix of hazardous weather conditions ranging from thunderstorms and heavy rain to extreme heat and heightened fire risks.
According to meteorologists, thunderstorms are expected to hit most regions, particularly central Kazakhstan, with heavy rainfall forecast throughout the day, The Caspian Post reports per Kazakh media.
The northern, northwestern, and eastern regions may experience strong winds, squalls, and hailstorms, posing risks to infrastructure and agriculture.
In the south and southwest, dust storms are anticipated, potentially disrupting travel and reducing visibility.
Meanwhile, a heatwave is gripping several areas, with Abai, East Kazakhstan, Atyrau, and West Kazakhstan seeing temperatures soar to 35°C, prompting warnings for heat-related health concerns.
The fire threat remains high to extreme across multiple regions. A high fire risk has been declared for Abai, East Kazakhstan, Kostanay, Pavlodar, West Kazakhstan, Karaganda, Atyrau, and Mangistau regions. Additionally, the fire danger is deemed extremely high in Kyzylorda, Turkistan, Almaty, Zhetysu, Zhambyl, Karaganda, Aktobe, Kostanay, Ulytau, Atyrau, Mangistau, Abai, and East Kazakhstan.
