EU, Kazakhstan Sign Major Cooperation Package During Tokayev’s Brussels Visit

The European Union and Kazakhstan signed a broad package of agreements covering transport, infrastructure, industry, and aviation during President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s visit to Brussels on June 23.

The signing ceremony took place in the presence of EU leadership and the Kazakh president, underscoring the growing strategic partnership between the European Union and Central Asia’s largest economy, The Caspian Post reports via Report.

Among the agreements was a landmark air transport agreement between the EU and Kazakhstan, aimed at enhancing connectivity and expanding cooperation in the aviation sector.

The package also included a financing agreement for the modernization of transport infrastructure along the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, a key trade corridor linking Europe and Asia.

In addition, Kazakhstan and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development signed two memorandums of cooperation, while a commercial contract was concluded for the delivery of Airbus aircraft to Kazakhstan’s flagship carrier, Air Astana.
