A fire at a children’s hospital in Kazakhstan's capital Astana has sparked concern on social media after reports of smoke emerging from the medical facility.
The fire started in an electrical switchboard room located in the basement of the hospital in the Sarayshyk district, The Caspian Post reports via the Kazakh Ministry of Emergency Situations.
Emergency crews arrived at the scene within two minutes of receiving the alert and immediately began firefighting operations.
“To ensure safety, hospital staff and patients were evacuated and temporarily transferred to nearby medical facilities,” the ministry said in a statement.
A special firefighting headquarters and a temporary heating point were also set up at the site during the emergency response.
Rescuers managed to fully extinguish the blaze, which covered an area of 10 square meters. No injuries were reported, while the cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
