Global Gold Production: Kazakhstan Among the Top 10 in 2024

Kazakhstan is positioned as one of the top 10 gold-producing countries in 2024, as per the latest report from the US Geological Survey (USGS).

Leading the pack are China, Russia (310 metric tons), and Australia (290 metric tons), with China maintaining its top position at 380 metric tons, The Caspian Post reports, citing Kazakh media.

Other key producers include Canada (200 metric tons), the U.S. (160 metric tons), along with Kazakhstan, Mexico, and Ghana, each contributing 130 metric tons. Additionally, Uzbekistan has boosted its gold output to 120 metric tons, up from 100 metric tons in 2023.

Kazakhstan’s gold production has nearly doubled since 2016, led by the Altyntau Kokshetau mine, owned by Glencore, which produced 603,000 ounces in 2024.

SolidCore Resources, formerly Polymetal International, produced 320,000 ounces in 2024. The company delisted from the London Stock Exchange in 2023 and now trades on Kazakhstan’s Astana International Exchange. Its main asset is the Kyzyl mine, holding 2.2 million ounces of gold.
