Renowned international action star Jackie Chan has touched down in Almaty, Kazakhstan, sparking excitement both online and across the city.
Video footage showing the actor arriving at Almaty International Airport, accompanied by representatives from the local film company Salem Entertainment, quickly spread on social media, The Caspian Post reports via Kyrgyz media.
Among those welcoming the star was Maksat Kikimov, former deputy mayor of Almaty and current president of Nomad Wrestling, who shared a photo with Chan on his social media account.
“His films didn’t just entertain us-they inspired generations to be active, take up sports, and believe in their potential,” Kikimov said. “Thanks to Jackie Chan, many people found motivation to pursue athletics. We are grateful for an era of unforgettable films that continue to empower millions.”
Although the purpose of Chan’s visit remains unconfirmed, social media buzz suggests he may be attending the highly anticipated Kairat vs. Real Madrid football match. The actor was also spotted later enjoying the picturesque Shymbulak resort, adding to public curiosity.
The local film company Salem Entertainment, which hosted Chan’s arrival, recently made headlines in April 2025 after severing ties with actor Sharip Serik following a domestic violence scandal. Serik was subsequently cut from all scenes in the film Patrol: The Last Order.
Jackie Chan is the latest high-profile international celebrity to visit Kazakhstan in recent months. Music superstars Jennifer Lopez and the Backstreet Boys have also performed in the country, underscoring Kazakhstan’s rising status as a destination on the global entertainment stage.
