Almaty to Launch Kazakhstan’s First Multi-Use Box Park Made from Shipping Containers

Kazakhstan is set to unveil its first-ever box park in Almaty, a modern multi-functional complex built using recycled shipping containers.

Covering an area of 2,700 square meters at the crossroads of Tole Bi and Rozybakiev streets, the innovative space will feature a dynamic mix of retail shops, cafés, fitness studios, offices, and leisure areas. The park will also include green walkways, playgrounds for children, and an open-air amphitheater designed for cultural and community events, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

Consisting of 17 modular units, the box park is part of a larger urban development program aimed at boosting infrastructure and fostering local entrepreneurship. Experts praise the project for its sustainable construction methods, quick assembly, and contemporary design.

The initiative was developed by a subsidiary of the Social Entrepreneurial Corporation "Almaty" and financed with 500 million tenge through the Almaty Business - 2025 program, featuring a loan at 6% annual interest over seven years.

City authorities expect the new complex to generate around 30 million tenge annually in tax revenue, positioning it as a flagship example of eco-friendly urban planning and a catalyst for business innovation in the region.
