Kazakhstan’s Almaty welcomed more than 1.14 million tourists in the first half of 2025, a 6.5 per cent increase compared to the same period last year.
Of the total visitors, 323,500 were international tourists, The Caspian Post informs via Kazakh media.
The largest groups came from India (56,200) and China (54,100), with Chinese arrivals up 33.4 per cent compared to 2024. Other notable international visitors included 17,900 from Türkiye, 9,700 from South Korea, 9,600 from the US, 6,700 from the UAE, and 6,500 from Germany.
The city’s tourism department attributed the growth to ongoing efforts to enhance tourism infrastructure and provide modern services for travelers. “Almaty continues to strengthen its position as a premier destination for both leisure and business tourism by expanding the diversity of tourist flows and creating comfortable conditions for visitors,” the department said.
Almaty’s rising global profile was further highlighted in the Oxford Economics Global Cities Index 2025, which recognized the city as the top destination in Central Asia.
