Hollywood-style action is arriving in Kazakhstan as filming for Armour of God 4: Ultimatum, starring martial arts legend Jackie Chan, officially gets underway in the Mangistau region.
The first scenes of the international production have already been shot amid the region’s dramatic natural landscapes, with the iconic Bozzhyra tract serving as one of the movie’s key filming locations, The Caspian Post reports via Kazinform.
A crew of 35 worked at the site from June 7 to 12, capturing footage against one of Kazakhstan’s most breathtaking backdrops.
The Mangistau regional administration, headed by Governor Nurdaulet Kilybay, welcomed the production team and provided comprehensive support for the project. Officials highlighted the region’s growing appeal as a destination for large-scale international film productions.
Governor Kilybay noted that hosting major film projects offers opportunities to showcase Kazakhstan’s cultural heritage, develop the creative economy, and attract more visitors to the region.
The production is expected to become a landmark event for Kazakhstan’s film industry, introducing Mangistau’s unique landscapes and historical sites to audiences around the world. The film could help boost tourism, attract new investment, and strengthen Mangistau’s international profile.
Filming is scheduled to continue throughout the year, with the movie set for release in February 2027.
The Armour of God team first visited Aktau in November to scout locations, and Mangistau was officially confirmed as a filming destination in December. In addition to Mangistau, scenes for the highly anticipated fourth installment of the legendary action franchise will also be filmed in Kaskelen, in Kazakhstan’s Almaty region.
