A new film studio is under construction in Kaskelen, Kazakhstan, where the first project will star Jackie Chan.

A time capsule signed by the actor was flown in from Hong Kong by helicopter, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

The project is privately funded. The first studio halls will cover 2,000 square meters and meet the standards of major global film studios.

The inaugural project at the new facility will be “Armor of God 4: Ultimatum” featuring Jackie Chan. Executive producer Chiu Wah Lee, part of the franchise, attended the groundbreaking ceremony.

“This facility is important both for our culture and our economy,” said Marat Sultangaziyev, governor of Almaty Region.

Project organizers hope the studio will strengthen Kazakhstan’s position as a Central Asian filmmaking hub and attract international production teams.
