Kazakh Expert Highlights Middle Corridor as Key to Turkic States’ Economic Future

Sanat Kushkumbayev, Senior Research Fellow at the Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies has announced that the Middle Corridor has been identified as the flagship project of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), underscoring its strategic importance for the region’s economic and transport development.

Kushkumbayev made these remarks during a panel discussion titled "The Contribution of the OTS to the Global Economy, Trade, and Transport Amid Economic Instability," held as part of the OTS Think Tanks Conference in Baku, The Caspian Post reports via local media.

Kushkumbayev described the Middle Corridor as a concrete achievement of collaborative efforts by OTS member states, noting that these countries are steadily increasing their annual transport capacity.

He added that initiatives are underway to streamline routes and simplify customs procedures within the OTS framework. A key objective is to cut the transit time for shipments from China to Europe to just 10-15 days, effectively halving the duration compared to traditional maritime transport.

The expert also stressed that the success of the Middle Corridor is vital for the economic prosperity and sustainable development of the Turkic states, positioning the route as a major contributor to regional integration and growth.
