Kazakh PM Champions Digital Revolution in Labor Market Development

Kazakh Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov has chaired a government meeting focused on accelerating the development and digital transformation of the country’s labor market.

During the meeting, Bektenov called on regional authorities and relevant ministries to intensify efforts to secure sustainable employment opportunities, The Caspian Post reports, citing Kazakh media.

He stressed the importance of personal oversight by regional leaders in implementing employment plans, particularly emphasizing the creation of permanent jobs.

The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, together with regional administrations, was instructed to ensure the achievement of all key performance indicators outlined in regional employment strategies, with a priority on long-term job creation.

In addition, the Ministry of National Economy and regional officials were tasked with integrating all projects planned for 2025 to 2027 into the state planning information system by September 1. This step is designed to better coordinate state programs with job creation initiatives.

Bektenov also announced that starting from early 2026, district and city heads will be evaluated based on specific recruitment performance metrics.

The Ministry of Digital Development was assigned to create a unified digital platform that consolidates data from government agencies and businesses, enabling real-time tracking of job creation and assessing the effectiveness of ongoing measures.

Kazakhstan’s unemployment rate stood at 4.6 per cent in the first half of 2025.
