While speaking at the forum marking the International Year of Peace and Trust, the International Day of Neutrality, and Turkmenistan’s 30th anniversary of permanent neutrality, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has emphasized the importance of continued support for Afghanistan and Kazakhstan’s role in promoting regional peace and stability.
He noted that the UN Regional Center for Sustainable Development Goals in Almaty should serve as a platform for cooperation between Central Asian countries and Afghanistan, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.
Tokayev also highlighted the active role of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA), stressing its political relevance and thanking partners for supporting its development into a full-fledged international institution.
Earlier, he reaffirmed Kazakhstan’s support for intensified negotiations aimed at resolving the conflict in Ukraine.
