Kazakh President Hosts International Forum on Constitutional Legislation

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has met with participants of the international forum on constitutional legislation, "The World and Future through the Law," expressing gratitude for their visit and highlighting Kazakhstan’s appreciation for the Venice Commission’s exemplary legal practices and the advanced constitutional policies of other countries.

The forum brought together leading legal figures, including Claire Bazy Malaurie, President of the European Commission for Democracy through Law (Venice Commission); Mohammed bin Hamad Al Badi, President of the Federal Supreme Court of the UAE; Luke Malaba, President of the Conference of African Constitutional Jurisdictions; and Bayasgalan Gungaa, Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court of Mongolia, The Caspian Post informs via Kazakh media.

President Tokayev expressed gratitude to the delegates for visiting Kazakhstan, underscoring the country’s appreciation for the Venice Commission’s exemplary legal practices and the advanced constitutional policies of other nations. He emphasized their role as important benchmarks for strengthening democratic institutions and ensuring sustainable human rights protections. As Kazakhstan celebrates the 30th anniversary of its Constitution, Tokayev highlighted its crucial role in maintaining social harmony, stability, and dynamic development in the face of global challenges.

During the meeting, President Tokayev outlined Kazakhstan’s ongoing political, economic, and constitutional reforms. He noted that recent amendments have strengthened the representative branch and human rights institutions, enhanced executive accountability, and that the reinstated Constitutional Court has improved access to justice. The president also highlighted the continued development of the Law and Order principle across the country.

President Tokayev further discussed his Address to the Nation, stressing Kazakhstan’s commitment to modernization, innovation, sustainable development, and boosting its global standing. He emphasized that transforming the country into a technologically advanced state is a key national goal, with AI adoption and full digitalization forming a new national vision.

Concluding the session, President Tokayev expressed hope for ongoing collaboration among constitutional review bodies and wished the forum’s participants success in their deliberations.

Earlier, President Tokayev held a bilateral meeting in a narrow format with Democratic Republic of the Congo President Félix Tshisekedi.
