Kazakh President Calls Congolese Counterpart’s Visit Historic Gesture of Respect

President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and President of the Democratic Republic of the Congo Félix Tshisekedi have held extended-format talks in Astana, with Tokayev describing the visit as a historic gesture reflecting deep respect for the Kazakh people.

He highlighted that, although diplomatic relations between Kazakhstan and the Democratic Republic of the Congo were established just three years ago, both countries have actively fostered cooperation based on mutual trust and friendship, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

“Today’s discussions will elevate Astana-Kinshasa relations to a new level and create opportunities for effective partnership. The Democratic Republic of the Congo remains a key partner of Kazakhstan in Africa. With Kazakhstan at the heart of Central Asia and Congo at the heart of Africa, I am confident that the prospects for developing our bilateral ties are very promising,” President Tokayev said.

The talks followed an earlier private session between the two leaders, held in a narrow-format setting.
