Kazakh President Makes Changes to Defense Ministry Leadership

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has made changes to the leadership of the country’s Ministry of Defense.

Three senior defense officials have been relieved of their positions, according to Kazpravda.kz.

They are:

Kanysh Abubakirov, First Deputy Minister of Defense and Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Kazakhstan;

Almaz Dzhumakeev, Deputy Minister of Defense;

Kanat Niyazbekov, Commander-in-Chief of the Naval Forces of Kazakhstan.

The personnel changes affect several key positions within Kazakhstan’s defense leadership.
