During his official visit to Japan, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has met Hiroshi Mikitani, Founder and CEO of Rakuten Group.
Tokayev praised Rakuten’s global digital ecosystem, calling it one of the most advanced worldwide, and highlighted Kazakhstan’s rapid technological development and digital transformation, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.
He briefed Mikitani on Kazakhstan’s first AI law, the launch of the national supercomputer, and ongoing e-government and digital ecosystem improvements.
The Kazakh president welcomed Rakuten’s interest in expanding its presence in Kazakhstan, including cooperation with the Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development, and noted potential collaboration in biotechnology for cancer treatment.
Mikitani thanked Tokayev, noting Kazakhstan’s advanced digital initiatives and substantial investment scale, expressing honor at participating in the meeting.
