During his official visit to Japan, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with Kazakh citizens currently studying or working in the country.
Speaking with compatriots, Tokayev highlighted the importance of learning from developed nations like Japan, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.
“I am confident that this visit will give new impetus to relations between our countries. Japan attaches special attention to this visit. Today, I will meet with Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi. Our cooperation has great prospects. Kazakhstan’s economy grew over 6 per cent this year, but we must continue modernizing infrastructure, reducing inflation, and advancing digitalization,” said the president.
Kazakh professionals in Japan, including Professor Serik Meirmanov of Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University, Arailym Khassan of ARIA Consulting, Abdibek Kalibek from Showa and Juntendo Medical Universities, and AI engineer Eldar Toleubay, shared their achievements and future plans with the President. Tokayev wished them continued success in their work and studies.
Earlier, Tokayev held talks with Emperor Naruhito, praising Japan’s discipline and resilience, and emphasizing longstanding friendly relations between the two nations. The Emperor hosted an official reception in Tokayev’s honor.
During his visit, the president also visited Meiji Jingu Shrine, the largest Shinto shrine in Tokyo, and is expected to meet major Japanese business representatives. Commercial agreements worth over $3.7 billion are anticipated.
In an exclusive interview, Japan’s Ambassador to Kazakhstan, Yasumasa Iijima, discussed the future of bilateral cooperation, development of the Middle Corridor, business initiatives, environmental challenges in the Caspian region, and joint efforts on nuclear disarmament.
