The Kazakh Education Ministry has announced that Kazakh schoolchildren kicked off the 2025 competition season with remarkable success, earning four medals - two gold and two silver - at the International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO 2025), held in the United Arab Emirates.
The prestigious Olympiad drew over 360 of the world’s top young chemists from 93 countries. Kazakhstan’s four participants delivered exceptional performances, reaffirming their status among the global elite in chemistry, The Caspian Post reports, citing Kazakh media.
Minister of Education Gani Beisembayev highlighted the significance of the achievements, saying they underscore the strength and growing international prestige of Kazakhstan’s education system.
The IChO is recognized as one of the seven most prestigious subject Olympiads for schoolchildren worldwide. Winners receive monetary awards authorized by Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. At last year’s Olympiad, Kazakhstan secured two gold, one silver, and one bronze medal.
Meanwhile, Kazakh students also excelled at the 2025 International STEM Olympiad, held in Barcelona, winning gold, silver, and bronze medals. The competition featured hundreds of contestants from over 30 countries.
President Tokayev congratulated the students on their outstanding achievements, describing their success as a historic milestone for the nation.
“This success vividly illustrates the dynamic growth of our education sector. The state remains committed to creating an environment that nurtures high-quality learning and the development of future generations. We are immensely proud of you and wish you continued success,” the president stated.
Additionally, President Tokayev extended his congratulations to chess player Meruert Kamalidenova, who triumphed against top opponents in the qualifying rounds of the 2025 FIDE Women’s World Cup, taking place from July 6 to 28 in Batumi.
