Kazakhstan’s young mathematicians are making their mark on the global stage, as the national team secured three medals at the European Girls’ Mathematical Olympiad 2026 held in Bordeaux.
Competing against 247 participants from 66 countries, the Kazakh team delivered a strong performance, bringing home two silver and one bronze medal, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.
Silver medals were awarded to Iuliia Katunina, a pupil from a specialized lyceum in Pavlodar, and Aruzhan Kairat from a specialized school in Almaty.
A bronze medal went to Vera Kotorova, representing the Nazarbayev Intellectual School of Physics and Mathematics in Almaty.
The team was coached by Anton Vassilyev and Marat Nsanbayev, assisting Kazakhstan to achieve 20th place overall and 10th among European countries in the rankings.
Since 2017, Kazakhstan has earned a total of 3 gold, 16 silver, and 17 bronze medals, along with several honorary mentions.
