May 2026 is shaping up to be one of the most holiday-filled months of the year for Kazakhstan, offering residents multiple long weekends and extended breaks.
Employees working a five-day week could enjoy up to 14 days off thanks to the way public holidays fall throughout the month, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.
The first long weekend begins on May 1, marking Kazakhstan’s Day of Unity of the People. Since the holiday falls on a Friday, it creates a three-day break from May 1 to May 3.
After a short four-day workweek, Kazakhstan will observe Defender of the Fatherland Day on May 7. Falling on a Thursday, it provides an additional midweek day off.
Next comes Victory Day on May 9. In 2026, it falls on a Saturday, with the day off being shifted to Monday, May 11 - creating another extended weekend from May 9 to May 11.
The month ends with another public holiday on May 27, the first day of Eid al-Adha, which falls on a Wednesday.
For those working a six-day schedule, May will offer a more modest nine days off, but still remains one of the most holiday-rich and relaxed months of the year.
