A tragic road accident in Kazakhstan’s Kostanay region has left four people dead after a collision between two vehicles on a major highway.

The crash occurred at the 106th kilometer of the Kostanay-Auliekol-Surgan road, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

Preliminary reports indicate that the driver of a Mercedes-Benz 200 reportedly veered into the oncoming lane and collided head-on with a VAZ-2107.

A criminal case was launched in connection with the fatal crash. Investigators are currently working to establish the full circumstances of the accident.

Police urged drivers to strictly observe traffic rules and remain vigilant on the road, warning that even a moment of inattention can lead to deadly consequences.
