Kazakh athletes Xeniya Berezhnaya and Dalel Tolkunova have dominated the Azerbaijan Open in Qusar, securing gold and silver in the women’s slalom.
On the final day of the country’s first international alpine skiing tournament, Berezhnaya finished first among 25 competitors from 12 nations, while Tolkunova took second place. The bronze went to Uzbek athlete Kseniya Grigoryeva, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.
The event, organized by the Azerbaijan Winter Sports Federation and Shahdag Tourism Center, featured multiple alpine disciplines and adhered to International Ski Federation's international standards.
Kazakhstan’s national team impressed with their performance, highlighting the strength of their alpine skiing program and gaining valuable experience ahead of future competitions.
Berezhnaya previously competed at the 2025 Asian Winter Games in Harbin, finishing 10th in slalom, one of the team’s best results.
