Kazakhstan’s economy grew 6.5 per cent in 2025, driven by industry, transport, construction, and trade.
The industrial production index rose 7.4 per cent, with manufacturing expanding 6.4 per cent, fueled by gains in food production (+8.1 per cent), oil refining (+5.9 per cent), chemicals (+9.8 per cent), metallurgy (+1.2 per cent), and machinery (+12.9 per cent), The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.
Economic growth was widespread across regions including Aktobe, Almaty, Atyrau, West Kazakhstan, Zhambyl, Karaganda, Kostanay, Mangistau, Pavlodar, North Kazakhstan, Turkistan, as well as the cities of Astana, Almaty, and Shymkent.
The transport and warehousing sector surged 20.4 per cent, led by higher road and rail freight volumes, passenger traffic, and auxiliary services such as freight forwarding and airport operations.
The construction sector grew 15.9 per cent, boosted by infrastructure and social projects, with 20.1 million m² of housing commissioned, up 5.1 per cent from 2024.
Trade expanded 8.9 per cent, driven by wholesale trade, including sharp increases in grain, seeds, machinery (+99.8 per cent), pharmaceuticals (+44.1 per cent), vehicles (+33 per cent), dairy and eggs (+25.8 per cent), and sugar products (+21.2 per cent).
Agriculture, forestry, and fisheries rose 5.9 per cent, supported by crop production (+7.8 per cent) and livestock farming (+3.3 per cent). The information and communications sector grew 3.6 per cent.
Overall, Kazakhstan’s steady growth in key sectors reflects the success of government measures to diversify the economy.
