Kazakhstan Reclaims 800,000 Hectares From Oligopolies

Kazakh Prosecutor General Berik Assylov has announced that Kazakhstan returned 800,000 hectares of land previously controlled by oligopolies to state ownership.

Assylov made these remarks while summarizing the results of 2025, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

He noted that the reclaimed lands are located in strategically and environmentally significant areas, including the foothills of the Alatau Mountains, the Caspian Sea coastline, Burabay National Park, and several other regions across the country.

The prosecutor general also highlighted a number of other key enforcement outcomes from the past year.

In Pavlodar and Atyrau, authorities canceled public procurement contracts after it was discovered that local government bodies planned to purchase special equipment and apartments at prices three times higher than market value.

In another case, following a protest filed by the prosecutor general, 800 million tenge was recovered in favor of the state defense order for unfulfilled weapons repair work.

The measures, officials say, reflect intensified efforts to protect state interests, curb misuse of public funds, and restore assets to public ownership.
