Kazakh Tennis Star Storms Into Generali Open Semifinals in Austria

Kazakh tennis star Alexander Bublik, ranked 30th in the ATP rankings, has advanced to the semifinals of the 2025 Generali Open men’s singles tournament held in Kitzbühel, Austria.

Bublik defeated his compatriot Alexander Shevchenko, ranked 110th, with a solid 6-4, 6-2 win in the quarterfinals, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

The match lasted one hour and 15 minutes and was briefly halted due to heavy rain.

In the semifinal, Bublik will face the Netherlands’ Botic van de Zandschulp, who is ranked 103rd.

The total prize money for the tournament is 596,035 euros, with the winner set to receive 90,675 euros and 250 ATP ranking points.

In other sports news, Kazakh judokas Aman Bakytzhan and Nurkanat Serikbayev secured two bronze medals for Kazakhstan at the 2025 FISU World University Games in Rhine-Ruhr, Germany.
