Kazakhstan has introduced a temporary ban on apple imports, as the government moves to support domestic fruit producers and stabilize the local market.

An order signed by the acting Minister of Agriculture prohibits the import of apples by all modes of transport from third countries and EAEU member states from September 3 through December 31, 2026, Zakon.kz reports.

The restriction does not apply to apples transported through Kazakhstan in transit. It also excludes shipments dispatched before September 3 under the relevant customs procedures, as well as products that had already physically entered the country before the ban took effect, provided the necessary supporting documents are available.

The Agriculture Ministry said the measure is designed to protect domestic producers and ensure stable sales of locally grown apples.

The order officially came into force on September 3 and will remain in effect until the end of the year.
