Kazakhstan Boosts Aviation Hub Role With Turkish Airlines Deal

Kazakhstan is strengthening its position as a regional aviation hub after KazMunayGas-Aero signed an agreement with Turkish Airlines to provide “into-plane” refueling services at Almaty International Airport.

The deal covers both passenger and cargo flights operated by Turkish Airlines and was enabled by Kazakhstan’s systematic reduction of aviation fuel prices for international carriers, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

KazMunayGas said the agreement also reflects coordinated efforts by the government, Almaty Airport, and the specialized operator KazMunayGas-Aero to improve conditions for foreign airlines.

Turkish Airlines’ decision to increase cargo flights through Almaty is expected to drive higher freight volumes and further cement the airport’s role as a key international aviation and logistics hub linking Europe and Asia.

The move aligns with presidential directives aimed at developing Kazakhstan’s transport and logistics potential, boosting the competitiveness of domestic airports, and creating attractive conditions for global carriers.

KazMunayGas-Aero said it will continue expanding cooperation with leading international airlines while building transparent, stable, and competitive aviation fuel supply systems nationwide.

Turkish Airlines operates flights to 131 countries, holding the world record for the widest international network. Its fleet numbers around 500 aircraft, while Turkish Cargo ranks among global leaders, serving more than 340 destinations worldwide.
