Kazakhstan Busts Massive Drug Haul, Seizes Nearly Three Tons

Kazakhstan's law enforcement agencies have confiscated nearly three tons of illegal drugs since the beginning of the year, including 840 kilograms of synthetic substances, highlighting an intensified crackdown on narcotics trafficking.

The law enforcement agencies have also dismantled 34 underground drug laboratories over the past three months. Of these, 10 were producing synthetic drugs, while 24 were involved in plant-based narcotics, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

Deputy head of the Interior Ministry’s anti-narcotics committee, Kuandyk Alzhanov, said the operations dealt a significant blow to organized drug networks.

One notable case took place in Taldykorgan, where foreign nationals set up two drug labs. During the operation, police officers seized equipment, chemical reagents, and ready-to-sell drugs, with investigators revealing that the suspects coordinated their activities via the DarkNet.

Officials estimate the seized volume amounts to more than three million single doses, with total damages to the illegal drug trade exceeding 29 billion tenge.
