A woman rescued from a fatal apartment fire in Astana, Kazakhstan, is in critical condition after sustaining severe burns.
Emergency services said three ambulance teams were dispatched to the scene of the blaze, which broke out on April 12 in a high-rise residential building on Turkistan Street, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.
The woman was pulled from the fire and transported to hospital with second- to third-degree burn shock.
She is currently receiving intensive care, and doctors describe her condition as critical.
The fire, which has already claimed the lives of three children, devastated an apartment in the capital’s residential district, prompting a large-scale emergency response.
A criminal investigation into the incident was launched as forensic experts work to determine the cause of the blaze.
