A 17-year-old teenager has been critically injured after being struck by high-voltage electricity in a railway incident in Uzbekistan.
The accident occurred in the city of Chirchik, Tashkent region, when the teenager and his friends illegally entered the Bozsu railway station and climbed onto the roof of a stationary train wagon, The Caspian Post reports via Uzbek media.
Preliminary reports suggest the group was attempting to take an “extreme selfie” when the teenager came into contact with a high-voltage electrical current above the train.
The electric shock caused him to fall from the wagon onto the ground.
The victim was urgently hospitalized and admitted to intensive care. Doctors say he suffered life-threatening injuries, with burns covering approximately 80-85% of his body.
His condition remains critical, and medical staff are continuing intensive treatment in a fight to save his life.
Railway officials and law enforcement agencies have once again warned that climbing on train cars is extremely dangerous due to the risk of high-voltage electrical arcs, which can be fatal even without direct contact.
