Kazakhstan’s Olympic Committee Secretary General Alimzhan Akayev has met with the Chinese Embassy's delegation to review last year’s achievements, including the Winter Asian Games in Harbin.

The meeting included Counselor Cui Yinglan and Attaché Zhang Tai, responsible for culture, tourism, and sports, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

The sides discussed plans for the upcoming 2026 Asian Beach Games in Sanya, Hainan Island, scheduled for April 22-30.

The sixth edition of the event will feature 14 sports, combining traditional beach disciplines-like beach volleyball, beach soccer, and 3×3 basketball-with water sports such as surfing, open-water swimming, and sailing.

Akayev praised China’s extensive experience in hosting major international multi-sport events. “I am confident that the upcoming Asian Beach Games in Sanya will be organized to the highest international standards and become a key event for the regional sports community,” he said.

The meeting also covered bilateral cooperation in sports, organizational and cultural aspects of international events, and plans for future initiatives. Both delegations confirmed their readiness to strengthen collaboration and maintain regular dialogue in the sports field.
