Kazakhstan, China to Build Three Major Renewable Power Plants

Kazakhstan and China are set to deepen their energy partnership with the construction of three large renewable power plants across the country, following approval of the relevant bill by the Senate.

The joint projects include two wind power plants with a combined capacity of 1.5 GW in the Karaganda and Pavlodar regions, as well as a 300 MW solar power plant in the Turkestan region, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

Senator Olga Bulavkina said that local authorities in Karaganda and Pavlodar are currently allocating land plots for design and survey work. In Turkestan, a land plot has already been secured and construction of the solar plant has begun.

The three renewable energy facilities are expected to be completed between 2027 and 2029, marking a significant step in Kazakhstan’s transition toward cleaner energy sources.
