Kazakhstan Deepens Ties with ADB to Fast-Track Infrastructure Projects

Kazakhstan is ramping up its partnership with the Asian Development Bank, pushing forward a new wave of infrastructure projects designed to modernize the country’s economy and improve everyday life.

During a high-level meeting, Presidential advisor Asset Irgaliyev and ADB delegation head Takeo Koike focused on accelerating public-private partnership (PPP) initiatives-seen as a key engine for attracting investment and delivering large-scale development, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

At the heart of the talks: strategic projects spanning energy, social infrastructure, and public services. Officials highlighted how close coordination is already paying off, with smoother tender processes, faster agreements, and stronger collaboration between government bodies and international partners.

ADB’s growing role is especially visible in flagship developments. One standout project is a 300-bed multidisciplinary university hospital in Karaganda, now entering a competitive tender phase with both local and global companies in the race.

Education infrastructure is also getting a boost. Plans are advancing for a new student dormitory at Satbayev Kazakh National Research Technical University in Almaty, with advisory agreements already signed and investor attraction underway.

Meanwhile, attention is turning to clean energy. Hydropower projects in the Zhetysu Region are gaining momentum, signaling Kazakhstan’s push toward sustainable energy solutions.

The Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms is playing a crucial coordinating role-streamlining communication, aligning stakeholders, and ensuring projects move efficiently from concept to execution.

With momentum building across sectors, Kazakhstan and the ADB are now aligning their next steps-aiming to fast-track implementation and bring major infrastructure projects to life.
