Kazakh Ambassador to the US, Yerzhan Ashikbayev, has been formally relieved of his duties.
"By the Decree of the Head of State, Yerzhan Ashikbayev has been relieved of his post as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the United States of America," the statement reads, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.
The decision comes as part of a broader diplomatic reshuffle following the recent appointment of Yermek Kosherbayev as Kazakhstan’s new foreign minister.
Ashikbayev, who has served in Washington since April 2021, previously held senior positions in Kazakhstan’s Foreign Ministry and the Presidential Administration. His tenure in Washington was marked by a focus on strengthening bilateral ties in areas including trade, investment, education, and regional security.
As of now, no official announcement has been made regarding Ashikbayev’s next assignment or his replacement in Washington.
